The No. 14-ranked University of Oklahoma baseball team won its eighth straight in knocking off Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 3-1, in the second game of the Kleberg Bank College Classic Saturday in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The Sooners (8-0) are off to their best start since 2011 when they began 16-0. OU is now 2-0 all-time against the Islanders (3-4).

Junior right-handed pitcher Jonathan Gray (2-0) went seven innings and struck out six to earn the win. Freshman lefty Jacob Evans earned his second career save.

Junior infielder Matt Oberste had a two-RBI base hit and extended his hitting streak to 11 games dating back to last season.

Oklahoma takes on New Mexico at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

OSU 11-1, New Jersey Institute of Technology 6-3: In Stillwater, Oklahoma State extended its winning streak to four games with its second-straight doubleheader sweep as the Cowboys knocked off New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Jason Hursh tossed a seven-inning complete game in the run-rule win in Game 1 and was aided by 15 hits from the offense, while in the nightcap, OSU used two three-run innings to give Vince Wheeland his first victory of the season as the Cowboys improved to 6-1.

Offensively, OSU was led by catcher Victor Romero, who was 5-for-8 with four RBIs in the twinbill, and shortstop Randy McCurry, who added five hits and three RBIs.

"Two wins always feels good; two great starting pitching performances really were the key, along with some good relief pitching and some timely hitting," said OSU head coach Josh Holliday.

The Cowboys wrap up the series at noon Sunday.

ORU 5, Louisiana Tech 4: In Ruston, La., Chris Williams hit a three-run go-ahead home run and Brad Fisher sat down the final two batters as Oral Roberts survived Louisiana Tech.

Fisher earned his first victory of the season, going two innings with a hit. Caleb Dudley took the loss, allowing two of the three runs on Williams' homer.

Williams finished with two hits and four RBI's. Graham McIntyre added a pair of hits.

The Golden Eagles improve to 2-4, while the Bulldogs drop to 2-4. The rubber game of the three-game set is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
