AUSTIN, Texas - The No. 24 Tulsa softball team fell to No. 6 Texas 1-0 in eight innings on Sunday in the championship game of the Texas Invitational.
Tulsa junior Aimee Creger (6-1) went the distance, scattering five hits with eight strikeouts. Texas' Blaire Luna (7-0) struck out 16 batters with no walks and allowed three hits in a complete game to earn the win for the Longhorns (16-1).
The Golden Hurricane fell to 11-4.
International tiebreak rules place a runner on second base to begin the inning. Each team laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance its runner to third base, but Texas' Gabby Smith singled up the middle to score Stephanie Ceo for the winning run.
The Golden Hurricane returns to action Friday at the UT Arlington Invitational, where it will face Lamar, Creighton and UT Arlington.
