Dominique Savard ("Change needed," Feb. 15) spotlighted the crux of the dog/cat overpopulation problem in Oklahoma: "no spay/neuter laws." I have five dogs, a neighbor has 10 dogs, most other neighbors have a minimum of two and usually four or five dogs or cats. We do love animals, but we hate seeing puppies, kittens and mature animals thrown out on our streets to starve, be hit by vehicles or die of disease.

Between us, my 20-dog neighbor and I have spayed/neutered dozens of dogs/cats and passed them on to good homes through WAGS (the Wagoner pet rescue), PALS (the Chouteau pet rescue), or simply sitting in grocery parking lots with adoptable dogs and waiting for people to choose them. Come on, Oklahoma, get a spay/neuter law!
