CATOOSA – Booker T. Washington’s girls punched their ticket to the Class 6A state basketball tournament Thursday with a 57-42 win over Muskogee in area play at Catoosa High School.
Mikayla Alexander scored 13 points and Rachel Block added 10 to lead the Hornets, who held the high-scoring Roughers to a season-low point total.
Muskogee led Class 6A in scoring offense, but senior guards Kelsey McClure and Alexus Wilson were held to 10 and 7 points, about half what they were averaging as a duo.
Mari Jackson scored all 11 Muskogee points in the third quarter and totaled a team-high 18 in the game.
Washington (25-2) advanced to the state tournament for the 11th time in 12 years. Muskogee (20-6) has another chance in Saturday’s consolation qualifier. The Roughers play the winner of Jenks and Union, which played later Thursday.
