The recent Tulsa World story concerning the army of agents going into downtown Tulsa restaurants was good. The World ought to have contacted Mayor Dewey Bartlett for comment.

The Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission agents, accompanied by Tulsa police officers, wrote tickets for stamps missing on game machines and 10 tickets for liquor law violations.

Having nine or 10 agents go into a restaurant at 6 p.m. lacks good sense. Maybe next time they can use the SWAT team and its tank.

The police chief and the mayor need to be sure that the police are used in the best possible way.

I would suggest raids at drug houses, not 6 p.m. raids at restaurants. How many people have had too much to drink at 6 p.m.? Could one agent have handled this job? Do we really need all of the ABLE agents?

I do not visit these restaurants or know their owners. I only drink soda pop and coffee.
