Having read Barbara Hoberock's article ("Dozens of legislative staffers receive pay raises," Feb. 17) and one employee receiving a $22,000 a year increase, I am upset.
No increases in seven years, take into consideration the retirees. I received my 1099 from the state (Department of Corrections retiree) and had my taxes figured. By the time the deduction was taken I had just a little more than $1,100 to pay on taxes. The talk is about everyone else and the retirees should be considered too. We pay our taxes just like everyone else. We worked hard for our small state retirement. It is seems that everyone deserves more money but not us retirees.
The feds play with Medicare and Social Security and we paid for that for many years and it is ours.
Why is government so against retirees and the older generation? We worked for what little we receive today. We do not deserve it, I guess.
As I have said before, I will vote against everyone in office whenever I can. I do deserve the right to do that.
