NORMAN – Oklahoma responded to its Texas collapse in a big way today, bouncing back to hammer Iowa State 86-69 at the Lloyd Noble Center.

Romero Osby posted 22 points and nine rebounds and Sam Grooms had 19 points and six assists as OU won without ever trailing.

The Sooners, who blew a 22-point lead in the final eight minutes at Texas last Wednesday, are now 19-9 overall and 10-6 in the Big 12 Conference. They'll be favored to close out the regular season with wins against West Virginia and TCU next week, results that would likely give them the No. 4 seed at the Big 12 tournament.

Iowa State dropped to 19-10 and 9-7 and still has some work to do to gain a postseason berth. The Cyclones hoped to come in and take advantage of OU's post-Texas malaise, but they made just one shot in the first six minutes and never settled into the game.

The Sooners led 40-28 at the half and protected the cushion by going 30-of-30 at the free throw line in the second half. There were 34-of-34 overall to set a Big 12 record.
