First Annual Mulch Day, 9 a.m.

Woodward Park, 21st Street and Peoria Avenue

Meet and work side-by-side with the gardeners who maintain Woodward Park and help beautify it by mulching the azaleas. As part of the park's renovation, significant replanting of its azaleas has occurred, and the new planted and already-established plants will need a good mulch cover to ensure their vitality.

No registration is needed, just show up and meet in the Tulsa Garden Center parking lot.

"Tomatoes: How to Grow Your Own, Plus Choosing Varieties" Class, 2 p.m.

Grogg's Green Barn, 10105 E. 61st St.

Grogg's Green Barn staff will discuss what the best tomato varieties are for the Tulsa area, as well as what is most drought-tolerant and heat tolerant. The class is free.

Basic Pruning Techniques

Tulsa Garden Center, 2435 S. Peoria Ave.

Find out how and when to prune trees and shrubs, such as spring flowering varieties (prune after they bloom), summer or fall flowering varieties, prune in spring). During the lecture, basic tree mechanics and biology will be explained, explaining how a tree fixes itself and how pruners can help a tree do that.

Preregistration is required and is $10 for non-TGC members and $8 for TGC members.
