Letter to the Editor: Parking problem

I recently attended a Town Hall meeting. After driving by several lots that were full, I pulled into a lot that had a large sign stating, "All Day Parking $5." The attendant, a man with a fist full of $10 and $20 bills, was taking money for parking. I handed him $5 and he said, "Are you going to Town Hall?" I replied "Yes." He then said, "We are charging Town Hall people $10 to park."

The program is one hour long and attendees are using the lots less than two hours. At least 80 percent of Town Hall participants are senior citizens, many unable to walk long distances. I feel it is disgraceful and unethical to take advantage of senior citizens and Town Hall attendees in this way.

If Tulsa wants to encourage people to go to events downtown, this situation needs to be addressed.
