Several bills making their way through the Legislature would allow horses to be slaughtered and their meat to be sold and exported to foreign countries. It makes me sick just to think this could happen in our state. I'm a city person but still have a respect for horses. This is not a way animals should die. I know horses are shot in many circumstances. But to turn around and sell the meat is so cruel.
I almost bet the people wanting this bill are thinking about making money and maybe about the jobs that would be created. These are not the kind of jobs our state needs.
