A Vinita woman was killed and a man was injured after the vehicle they were in crashed into a creek early Sunday in Craig County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Killed was 46-year-old Shelly D. Long.
Long was driving south in a 2005 Cadillac on a county road two miles south of Vinita at 2:15 a.m., when the car left the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail before rolling one-half time and landing on its top in a nearby creek, the OHP said.
Long was pinned in the vehicle for 25 minutes before being extricated and transported by ambulance to Craig General Hospital in Vinita, where she was later pronounced dead, troopers said.
Nolan R. Long, 22, also of Vinita, a passenger in the vehicle, was treated for minor injuries, the OHP said.
The driver and passenger were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, troopers said.
