An Arkansas man is dead after an apparent heart attack Sunday, which caused him to lose control of his vehicle on a Tulsa highway with a 3-year-old girl inside, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Roger Dale Jones, 62, of Paris, Ark., was heading west on U.S. 412 in a 2006 Ford F-250 a mile east of the 209th West Avenue exit just before 3 p.m. when he suffered an apparent heart attack and drifted into oncoming traffic before coming to a rest against a cable barrier in the center median, troopers said.

Jones was transported by EMSA to St. John Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, the OHP said.

Paisley Palmatary, 3, of Pawnee, a passenger in the truck, was not injured, troopers said.

Troopers reported Jones was wearing a seat belt. The child was secured in child restraints.
