Near 50s today, strong weekend rain chances in Tulsa area

Tulsa World Weather: A new weather site powered by the Tulsa staff of the National Weather Service. The partnership allows Tulsa World readers to receive weather alerts, forecasts and current conditions as the staff issues them.
Temperatures are expected to edge up before weekend rain chances in the Tulsa area.
The National Weather Service forecasts highs in Tulsa in the low 50s today, then the 60s until Sunday, when highs are expected to return to the 50s.
North winds up to 10 mph are forecast for Tulsa today, with wind gusts as high as 25 mph Friday and Saturday, the weather service forecasts.
Tulsa's overnight lows are forecast for the 30s tonight; 40s Thursday night; then the 50s Friday night, according to the weather service.
Tulsa's highest wind speed this month was 31 mph Tuesday. The highest temperature so far in March was 73 degrees Monday, while the lowest was 24 degrees Saturday, according to the weather service.
A 50 percent chance of showers is forecast for Saturday, with showers likely Saturday night. A thunderstorm is possible after noon Saturday. A chance of rain is also forecast for Sunday.
Tulsa had 0.01 of an inch of rain Tuesday, the only rainfall recorded so far this month. Tulsa had more than 3 inches of rain in February, according to the weather service.
