A Tulsa woman who allegedly struck a man with her vehicle and damaged another vehicle at an apartment complex was arrested.
America Lopez, 26, was arrested by Tulsa County sheriff’s deputies Monday on assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious injury to property complaints.
Lopez was charged Jan. 18 in Tulsa County District Court where it is alleged she hit a man with her 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe at the Sheridan Apartments, 6524 E. 21st Place July 23, 2011, court documents indicate.
Lopez was seen that day driving east on East 21st Street Place at a high rate of speed then jumping a curb before striking the man, according to a police report.
The impact knocked the man backward an estimated five feet, the report said.
The officer noted in the report that Lopez stopped the vehicle “and went forward as if to strike (him) again,” the report states.
Two young children were also seen in the Tahoe, the report said.
A female witness to the incident told police that the man was a passenger in her vehicle before Lopez struck him. The witness claimed Lopez chased her into the apartment complex and positioned the Tahoe in a manner to block her from leaving, the report said.
Lopez then exited the Tahoe and began hitting the woman’s vehicle, and at one point broke the woman’s windshield wiper. Lopez is also accused of jumping on the hood of the vehicle and causing paint and body damage, said the report.
She remains in the Tulsa Jail in lieu of $31,000 bail.
