Tulsa World movie critic Michael Smith has done it again. As with many of his movie reviews, I strongly disagree with his assessment of Seth MacFarlane's job as host of the Oscars. I have never really watched much of MacFarlane's many other projects - just a glimpse here and there, but I find him to be a very multi-talented young man.
He and Billy Crystal have many of the same qualities except MacFarlane is a more talented singer.
Smith said that MacFarlane's interest waned in the last hour. I say that MacFarlane's and Kristen Chenoweth's last song, (which MacFarlane wrote) was one of the many highlights of the show. His other musical numbers were great too. He is very talented in the following categories: singing, dancing, writing songs, writing scripts, telling jokes and being witty. What else do you want?
I do agree with Smith that those who vote for the categories made huge mistakes of omission. How could a picture ("Argo"), be voted best picture and its director, Ben Affleck, not even be nominated? The director can make or break a movie. Also, how could they omit Kathryn Bigelow (director of "Zero Dark Thirty")?
I think Smith owes MacFarlane and Tulsa World readers a big apology.
