21-9 overall, 11-7 Big 12
Catching up: From one of the Sooners' worst weeks of the year to one of their best. It began last Saturday with an 85-77 Senior Night victory over Kansas. The big one, though, was Monday night's 77-73 victory at Texas Tech. That allowed OU to pass the Lady Raiders for third place in the final Big 12 standings. And that allows OU to avoid No. 1 Baylor until the championship of this weekend's Big 12 Tournament.
Player to watch: Aaryn Ellenberg. Ho hum. Another two games, another two 20-point performances for the junior guard. She scored a game-high 22 against Kansas, then a game-high 25 at Tech. Ellenberg heads to the Big 12 Tournament needing two 3-pointers to top Erin Higgins as OU's career leader.
Notes
Rubber game with West Virginia: The Sooners' Big 12 quarterfinal is 8:30 p.m. Saturday against 6-seed West Virginia. The teams split their two regular-season meetings.
OU captured game one 71=68 in Norman on Jan. 2 as Sharane Campbell posted 17 points and 12 rebounds. The Mountaineers rolled 82-63 in Morgantown on Feb. 3 despite 14 points and 16 boards from Joanna McFarland.
Had West Virginia beaten Texas on Tuesday, Oklahoma State would have drawn the 6-seed in Dallas. The Mountaineers fell 58-45, however.
Good to be back: The tournament returns to Dallas for the first time since 2006, the year OU knocked off defending national champion Baylor for the title. Courtney Paris totaled 24 points and 26 rebounds in a 72-61 victory.
Dallas also hosted in 2004, the year OU upsets second-ranked Texas for the championship. Dionnah Jackson scored 21 in a 66-47 blowout.
