Edna Weger, 89, passed away March 6, 2013. Born October 19, 1923, to Joseph R. and Mary L. McDougal in Ranger, Texas. Edna grew up in Wink, Texas and graduated from Wink High School in 1940. She attended North Texas State University prior to marrying Gene L. Weger on December 24, 1943. Gene and Edna were married 61 years. Edna worked as a homemaker and raised her 4 children whom she encouraged to attend the colleges of their choice to earn the degrees they desired. Edna was a longtime member of both Boston Avenue and Asbury Methodist Churches and she sang in the choirs for several years. Edna enjoyed opera, playing tennis and having her family home. Edna is survived by her sons, John C. Weger and wife Lisa of West Palm Beach Florida, James E. Weger of Tulsa Oklahoma, and son-in-law Lee A. Freeman, Jr. of Livingston Montana. Her grandchildren are Crispin, Clark, Cassidy, Ande, Rabon, Alicia, Melanie, Brittany and Blake; and great-grandchildren Madison, Caden, Kennedy, Lucien and Anna. Her sister Donnie Wright of Kermit Texas, her brother-in-law Chuck Weger of Lindale Texas and sister-in-law Helen Jo Hancock of Kilgore Texas, also survive Edna. Her husband Gene, her sisters Marggie Brown and Jo Johnson, daughter Glynna G. Freeman and son Robert V. Weger, preceded Edna in death. Edna will have a graveside service at Memorial Park on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 1:30 pm, followed by a service at Moore Funeral Home at 2:00 pm. Those wishing to pay last respects may also come by Moore Funeral Home on 51st Street, from 8:00 to 12:00, Saturday morning. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the American Cancer Society.
