SB 171

Author: Sen. John Ford, R-Bartlesville

What it does: Removes state superintendent of public instruction from the governing board of Career and Technology Education and adds two members of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

Status: Passed the House 37-5; awaits assignment to House committee.

SB 765

Author: Sen. Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City

What it does: Requires health insurers to cover oral cancer medications the same as intravenous ones. Treat and others say it will make treatment easier and more effective for some patients. The measure is opposed by insurers, who say it will raise all health insurance premiums.

Status: Passed the Senate 37-5; awaits assignment to House committee.

HB 1229

Author: Rep. Marty Quinn, R-Claremore

What it does: Requires driving tests be given by appointment only.

Status: Passed the House 93-0; awaits assignment to Senate committee.

SB 596

Author: Sen. Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City

What it does: Makes offices of state superintendent of public instruction, labor commissioner and insurance commissioner appointive rather than elective. The proposal would require a vote of the people.

Status: Passed the Senate 26-15; awaits assignment to House committee.
