No. 10 Oklahoma put an end to a two-game losing skid by blanking No. 12 UCLA 4-0 Saturday in Los Angeles.
Junior right-handed starting pitcher Jonathan Gray put together a masterful performance on the mound for OU, fanning a season-high eight over seven scoreless frames to improve to 3-1 on the season. Freshman southpaw Jacob Evans and junior lefty Billy Waltrip each tossed a shutout frame in relief.
Junior infielder Matt Oberste led the OU offense, blasting a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning.
Oklahoma closes out its weekend in Los Angeles at noon Sunday against No. 22 Notre Dame.
Golden Eagles fall to Dallas Baptist: Oral Roberts fell for the second straight contest to Dallas Baptist, 8-3, on Saturday.
Nate Goro finished the afternoon with three hits, while Tyler Boss added a pair of hits and drove in Graham McIntyre with a bases-loaded infield single in the bottom of the ninth.
ORU left a total of 12 standing on base, their second-highest total of the season.
Working his way back from injury, Drew Bowen got the start, going four innings.
ORU (5-8) looks to salvage the series against DBU (7-8) at 1 p.m. Sunday at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
Cowboys fall to Loyola Marymount: Oklahoma State fell behind early and could not complete a comeback against Loyola Marymount as the 26th-ranked Cowboys dropped a 5-2 decision Saturday in Stillwater.
The two teams will battle again Sunday at noon.
The Cowboys (11-3) didn't get on the scoreboard until the seventh when, trailing 4-0, Tanner Krietemeier led off the inning with a home run, his third of the season. Zach Fish followed that with a blast of his own over the center-field wall, also his third of the year.
Freshman Alex Hackerott worked 3.2 scoreless innings in just his second collegiate appearance and allowed only two hits while striking out four.
