Letter to the Editor: GOP slammed

The object of terrorism is terror. That said, the Republicans running the government in Oklahoma City must be labeled just that, terrorists. They are all in favor of any policy or program that promotes a theocratic takeover of government, that screws the poor even more, prevents them from getting health care and shuts down public education. Every one of them are wholly owned by the American Legislative Exchange Council and every other right-wing terrorist organization out there.

Staffers in Oklahoma City recently got huge pay raises while state workers haven't gotten anything for years. Their explanation: high turnover and a desire to keep employees. That's the same excuse their pals on Wall Street used to justify giving huge bonuses to their employees.

Their tea party House Speaker, T.W. Shannon, R-Lawton, said he's open to "market driven" ideas as to how to give some employees raises. I know that Shannon worships the free market, but how does that figure into pay raises, unless "market driven" refers to who can brownnose and suck up to the boss the most.

State Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, says health care isn't a right, but a privilege for those who can afford it. Rep. Mike Ritze, R-Broken Arrow, placed a monument of the Ten Commandments on the Capitol lawn. So health care for the poor isn't a right, but imposing your theocratic beliefs is.

I wish we could place a huge statue of the seven deadly sins on the Capitol grounds. State Republicans are guilty of every damned one of them.
