Celebrate safely

Tulsa Police are stepping up patrols over the holiday weekend, so please don't drink and drive. The Tulsa Police Department and ABLE Commission will focus this year on the Cherry Street, Brookside and downtown areas to help curb drunken driving and related injuries and accidents. A command post also will be set up in the Blue Dome District.

If you need a ride, look for the Missy's Keys4Cabs sticker at any venue you're in. Drivers get a free ride home with this program. For more information and participating restaurants and bars, visit tulsaworld.com/keys4cabs There are member venues in each of the districts that TPD will be patrolling, including Arnie's Bar, McNellie's Public House, Full Moon Cafe, and dozens of other locations. Talk to your bartender to fill out a voucher for the free cab ride home. That's it. It's free, and it could save a life, including your own.

Also AAA offers its Tipsy Tow program in the Tulsa area, which starts noon on Sunday and runs until 4 a.m. Monday. Patrons may call 800-222-4357, press 4 and ask the dispatcher for the Tipsy Tow program.

AAA will tow one car (and a guest) to your residence, as long as it's within a 15 mile radius of where the vehicle is picked up. The service is free, and you don't need to be a AAA member to use it.
