Tulsa police have released the name of a man they believe to be the city’s latest homicide victim and are seeking help locating his missing SUV.

Sgt. Dave Walker said Friday that “there is strong evidence that the body found” is Robert Benjamin Sampson, 54.

A landlord called police Thursday morning after entering a rental home in the 4500 block of West Fifth Street and finding blood inside the residence, Walker said in a media release Thursday.

The landlord reported the tenant missing earlier this month after he was unable to locate the man and the tenant failed to pay his rent, police said.

Authorities initially indicated the residence contained evidence of a homicide but no body. Investigators processing the scene found a badly decomposed body some time later.

Investigators are in search of Sampson’s midnight blue 1998 Ford Explorer bearing Oklahoma license plate number 972DYN.

Anyone with information about the death is asked to contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 918-596-2477 or online at tulsaworld.com/crimestoppers or contact the Homicide Tip Line at 918-798-8477 or by email at homicide@cityoftulsa.org.
