A man named the Tulsa Police Department's Most Wanted fugitive was arrested Monday.
Steve Verner, 32, had been sought on armed robbery charges filed Feb. 22 in Tulsa County District Court.
Verner was arrested near the 6600 block of East Latimer Place by Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force agents.
Verner, along with a pair of teenagers, are accused of robbing a man and woman of $540 in the 700 block of North 67th East Avenue on Feb. 4. The teens, Rickey Everett Ballard and Dante Demarko Covington, have been charged as youthful offenders in the case.
Verner was acquainted with the male victim, and detectives believe Verner lured the victims to the location of the robbery and acted like an additional victim, court records show.
Verner also has been named in 12 felony cases in Tulsa County District Court since 1997.
He most recently served three years and eight months of a seven-year sentence after pleading guilty to being in possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and feloniously pointing that firearm in 2008.
Verner was charged with breaking and entering with unlawful intent and malicious injury to property last year. He pleaded guilty and sentencing was suspended for one year; however, he was ordered to spend 30 days in jail.
