PAWHUSKA -- A rape charge has been filed in Osage County against
a man also accused in a rape of a 14-year-old Tulsa girl.
District Attorney Larry Stewart said John Paul Haney Jr., 38,
has been charged with first-degree rape after a former conviction.
Stewart said the alleged rape occurred in November, although the
woman didn't press charges until this month.
The woman was at a north Tulsa convenience store when she
reportedly recognized Haney and asked him for a ride, Stewart said.
Haney drove the woman into Osage County, where he allegedly held a
knife to her and raped her, Stewart said. Haney then returned the
woman to Tulsa County, he said.
The woman reported the rape and was examined at a Tulsa hospital,
Stewart said. She did not press charges until finding out Haney was
the man charged in the Tulsa rape, he said.
Haney was arrested Jan. 4 in connection with the rape of a
14-year-old girl in north Tulsa. Police say Haney abducted the girl
from her school bus stop that morning and pulled her into his car
where he hit her and held her down.
He then drove her to the garage of a residence and raped her,
police say. The girl was then taken from the residence and left in
north Tulsa.
