Sutton, TCU and other pre-tourney fodder

It happened. After months of speculation, ORU coach Scott Sutton's name came up as soon as TCU fired six-year head coach Neil Dougherty.

Dougherty was done on Sunday, and Sutton was mentioned Monday morning in a Fort Worth Star-Telegram article with seven other ``likely candidates'' to replace Dougherty, who had losing seasons in the last three years of a 75-108 tenure.

Trickey business
Ken Trickey grew up in Cairo, Ill., a Mississippi River town on the southernmost tip of the state. From the seventh grade on, the only thing he wanted to be was a coach. Why? He said his coach in Cairo "was the best-looking guy I had ever seen. He was like a father to me. If I had been able to have chosen my father, I would have picked him."
