STANFORD, Calif. — Rod Pearson hit a jumper as time expired, lifting Oral Roberts University to an 83-81 win over Stanford of the Pac-10 in Wednesday night college basketball.

Dominique Morrison scored a career-high 31 points, including seven straight after Stanford took its largest lead of the game at 77-72 on Jeremy Green's third 3-pointer of the second half with two minutes left.

Morrison's jumper gave ORU a 79-77 lead with 19 seconds left and the teams traded foul shots until Stanford's Landry Fields scored to tie the game at 81-81 with 4.7 seconds left.

After Fields' basket, Pearson, a junior transfer guard, streaked down the right side with an inbounds pass and triggered from about 18 feet. The ball rattled inside the rim before falling through.

Game officials consulted replay videotape to confirm the ball had left Pearson's hand before time expired.

"It's a great way to win, especially on the road," ORU coach Scott Sutton said. "We needed something good to happen and to win like this after facing some adversity, to lose a big lead and come back, I think it'll do a lot for our confidence."

ORU improved to 2-1 overall and 6-13 all-time against Pac-10 schools. The Eagles' last win against a Pac-10 team came over Southern California 68-48 in the Great Alaska Shootout on Nov. 23, 2005.

Stanford fell to 1-2.

The Eagles led by as many as 14 points and by eight in the second half before falling behind.

They led 57-49 on Michael Craion's basket with 13 minutes left, but the Cardinal ran off nine straight points and the lead changed hands seven more times before a Green 3-pointer put the Cardinal in front 72-69 with 3:54 left.

Morrison's fourth trey with 1:31 left answered the Green 3-pointer that gave Stanford its five-point lead, and Morrison scored again on ORU's next possession, tying the game.

Fields led the Cardinal with 28 points, but he missed on his team's next trip, setting up Morrison to put the Eagles in front with 19 seconds left.

Craion had 13 points and six rebounds for the Eagles and true freshman Damen Bell-Holter had 12 points and six rebounds. ORU outrebounded the Cardinal 38-28.

The game was the first leg of the Cancun Challenge. ORU next travels cross country to play at Virginia of the Atlantic Coast Conference at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Fantastic game - got to see the whole thing live from the video scoreboard feed on the web. Eagles fought through a couple of Stanford runs and some dubious Pac-10 officiating down the stretch to win it. GREAT WIN!

Great win by the Golden Eagles. The game had lots of lead/momentum changes and Pearson's shot was clutch. Good to see DoMo finally breaak out this season.

Although Stanford is not what they have been in years past great win for ORU. I am so excited to watch this team. I really didn't get a good feel for them watching their home games thus far. But this win will help their confidence for sure. They are not very big, but athleticism will carry this team as far as they can go. Good win, now go take care of the Cavilers.
