CANCUN, Mexico — The Oral Roberts men's basketball team won in a runaway Wednesday and dodged an injury bullet on the final day of the Cancun Challenge.

Everyone on the Golden Eagles' bench winced when junior forward Michael Craion took a blow to the knee and fell to the floor, writhing in pain. ORU has lost three players with knee injuries already this season.

"The thing that went through our whole staff was, 'No way this can happen to us again,' " coach Scott Sutton said. "But once he got to his feet and started moving around, you could tell he was gonna be OK. So, that was obviously a good sign."

Freshman guard Hunter McClintock and redshirt freshman Tim Morton have been lost with knee injuries, and junior guard Rod Pearson missed both games in Cancun with an injury at Virginia that is believed to be season-ending.

Craion came back to score six points with six rebounds as the Eagles ran to a 72-51 win over Florida A&M, squaring their record at 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the Cancun tourney.

Dominique Morrison scored 19 points, Warren Niles added 15 while hitting three 3-pointers, and Kevin Ford had 11 points and 12 rebounds, notching his third double-double of the season.

Freshman forward Damen Bell-Holter and sophomore guard Ken Holdman received their first collegiate starts when Niles and Craion were late for an early-morning shoot-around. Bell-Holter scored the game's first six points and finished with seven points and eight rebounds. Holdman hit two 3-pointers and finished with eight points.

The Eagles held the winless Rattlers (0-6) to a season-low point total.

Sutton used all 10 men in uniform. Third-year walk-on Joe Moore hit his first collegiate 3-pointer, and junior forward Javier Nasarre played 12 minutes, his most extensive game action since undergoing foot surgery in August.

Nice bounce-back win for the Golden Eagles. ORU's victory at Stanford look even better now, after the Cardinal upset Virginia last night in Cancun. Now just have to find a way to play without a point guard - gonna have to go "big 'n strong"...

OK, I'm officially praying for every one of these players for the rest of the season! Those who are injured need prayer for their surgeries, treatment, and healing. Those who are healthy need prayer for protection from disaster!!
Geez, I already have plenty of gray hair, and now I'm not sure I can go to a home game without getting some more. Guys, help an old lady out here and stay on your feet. :)
