There has been no official confirmation from within the Oklahoma State football program, but it was reported by GoPokes.com that senior middle linebacker Orie Lemon sustained a serious knee injury and could be sidelined for the entire 2009 season.

During coach Mike Gundy's radio show on Tuesday night, he was asked by a caller about the health status of Lemon. Gundy did not specifically acknowledge that Lemon might have been injured.

"If a guy goes down, then another guy has got to play 10 or 15 more plays a game," Gundy said.

Expected to start against Georgia on Saturday is Lemon's backup, senior Donald Booker. As a reserve last season, the 5-foot-11, 235-pound Booker had 32 tackles.

GoPokes.com reported that Lemon, who started in all 13 games last season, sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament during Monday's practice. As he walked to the locker room on Monday, however, Lemon did not have a noticeable limp.

Last season, Lemon was OSU's second-leading tackler with 90 stops. Lemon has not used a redshirt season since signing with OSU out of Houston's Yates High School. If he cannot play this season, he could be redshirted and return as a fifth-year senior in 2010.
