OSU Notebook: Cox a semifinalist
OSU's Perrish Cox reacts to a fumble recovery by teammate James Thomas against Missouri in the fourth quarter at Boone Pickens Stadium, Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009. STEPHEN HOLMAN / Tulsa World

Oklahoma State senior cornerback Perrish Cox has been named one of 12 semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the best defensive back in college football.
With 12 pass break-ups and one interception, Cox leads the nation in passes defended. Cox has excelled against elite wide receivers like Georgia's A.J. Green (four catches, 52 yards, no touchdowns) and Texas' Jordan Shipley (six catches, 64 yards, no touchdowns).
Other Thorpe semifinalists are Alabama's Javier Arenas, Tennessee's Eric Berry, Toledo's Barry Church, Florida's Joe Haden, Miami's Brandon Harris, Southern Cal's Taylor Mays, Iowa's Tyler Sash, Kansas' Darrell Stuckey, Texas' Earl Thomas, UCLA's Alterraun Verner and Boise State's Kyle Wilson.
Three Thorpe finalists will be identified on Nov. 23. The winner will be announced during the Dec. 10 Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show and honored during a Feb. 9 banquet in Oklahoma City.
Cowboy candidates:
Cox is one of four Cowboys who are semifinalists for major awards. Offensive tackle Russell Okung is a Lombardi Award semifinalist, while Zac Robinson is a candidate for the Davey O'Brien and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm awards. Punter Quinn Sharp is a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award.
Cox opinions:
Following a recent practice session, Cox said Cowboy running back Keith Toston is the team's most underrated player, the team's most humorous player and the team's most distinguished "ladies' man."
Cox designated safety Lucien Antoine as having the best work ethic, wide receiver Dez Bryant as being "the most fun to watch" and offensive tackle Russell Okung as being the team leader. Cox described quarterback Zac Robinson as the "most unique" Cowboy.
When asked for the best-dressed Cowboy, Cox replied, "Me." When asked to identify the worst-dressed Cowboy, he said, "There are a number of them."
He hides it from media and fans, but OSU coach Mike Gundy occasionally dances in the team circle. Cox says cornerback Terrance Anderson does the best impression of the Gundy dance.
"You have to see (Gundy) dance," Cox said. "It's like the bones are broken in his legs. It's crazy. You're like, 'Where are your bones at, man?' It's the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life."
Robinson and the record book
