Oklahoma State's Andrea Riley was honored Monday as one of the Big 12's Women's Basketball Players of the Week, as selected by a media voting panel.
Riley was honored along with Iowa State's Anna Prins for season-opening games of Nov. 13-15. Riley, a senior, was honored for the eighth time in her career while Prins, a freshman, picked up her first award.
Riley led OSU to a pair of wins in the preseason WNIT over UALR, 67-58, and No. 19 Georgia Tech, 70-64, to advance to the semifinal round. The 5-5 guard averaged 25.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals. Riley recorded 27 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in the season-opener against UALR. She followed that with 24 points, six rebounds, seven assists and two steals in the win over Georgia Tech. Riley moved into a tie with Texas A&M's Takia Starks for eighth on the Big 12's all-time scoring list with 1,977 points.
Anna Prins scored 20 points to lead Iowa State to an 80-40 win over Florida Atlantic in the team's season opener. The 6-7 center went 7-of-10 from the field, hitting three of her five attempts from the three-point line.
Oklahoma State returns to action at 8 p.m. Wednesday against New Mexico in the preseason WNIT semifinals.
