Robinson's status for OU still unknown

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy has expressed optimism, but it won't be determined until Monday or later whether Cowboy quarterback Zac Robinson can play in the Nov. 28 Bedlam showdown at Oklahoma.

In last week's 24-17 victory over Texas Tech, Robinson absorbed a violent helmet-to-helmet shot from Red Raider quarterback Jamar Wall. When the 12th-ranked Cowboys hosted Colorado on Thursday, a bruised shoulder and possible head trauma resulted in the end of Robinson's streak of 34 consecutive starts at quarterback.

Backup QB Brandon Weeden rallied OSU to a 31-28 win over the Buffaloes.

"That's three years that (Robinson) has been the guy," Gundy said. "It was a shock to the team and a shock to the coaches. You've got a guy playing quarterback for 34 games, and all of a sudden he's not playing."

During a Friday teleconference, Gundy was asked whether Robinson was physically unable to play against Colorado or held out for precautionary reasons.

"It was precautionary because I didn't think he could play full speed," Gundy said. "If it was the last game of his career, would he have tried to pull it off? I'm not sure. I don't think he was ready to play, and he probably shouldn't have been out there."

Get well soon, Zac, but don't go if you're not ready.
