Oklahoma State left tackle Russell Okung has been the Big 12 Conference's offensive lineman of the year.

The league's awards and all-conference team are being announced this morning, and Okung is the first player from Oklahoma who has been honored in voting by league coaches.

Texas' Mack Brown has been named coach of the year and Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy has been named the league's offensive player of the year. Nebraska's defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh is the defensive player of the year.

Okung, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound senior from Houston, helped the Cowboys offense lead the league in rushing, at 191.8 yards per game. He also helped protect quarterback Zac Robinson. The Cowboys allowed 10 sacks this season, which was seventh-fewest in the country. Okung is a four-year starter projected to be a first-round NFL draft choice. He's one of three finalist for the Outland Trophy, which is awarded to the nation's top lineman.

Texas' Mack Brown was named coach of the year. Brown's Longhorns are 12-0 and ranked third in the country. They won the Big 12 South and play Big 12 North champion Nebraska in the conference title game at 7 p.m. Saturday in Dallas. If Texas wins, it's highly likely the Longhorns will play in the BCS championship game.
