NORMAN — Oklahoma's Ryan Reynolds and Travis Lewis were among 35 players nominated for the 2009 Butkus Award preseason watch list Friday.
The Butkus Award goes to college football's top linebacker.
Reynolds, a senior from Las Vegas, is coming off a knee injury. He started the Sooners' first six games last season and ranked seventh on the team with 44 tackles.
Lewis, a sophomore from San Antonio, burst into the starting lineup last year with 144 tackles, 3.5 sacks and four interceptions. His tackles total was the most every by an OU freshman, breaking the record of 133 set by Brian Bosworth in 1984. Bosworth won the first two Butkus Awards in '85 and '86. OU also picked up Butkus Awards from Rocky Calmus (2000) and Teddy Lehman (2003).
