A closer look at three players for the Bengals

Russel Hill

Junior quarterback

Hill, a Boise native, has thrown for 4,979 yards in his career, including 2,634 last season. But Hill may not even start. Junior Kyle Blum started last week in a 50-3 loss at Arizona State. Still, Hill ranks among the top 16 of 19 different ISU passing categories.

J.D. Ponciano

Senior wide receiver/kick returner

Ponciano's career kick return average is 23.2 yards, fifth-best in school history, and includes a career total of 1,764 yards and two touchdowns. OU's kickoff coverage — better against BYU than in most games last year — could be put to the test. He had 210 kickoff return yards in Tempe.

Jon Vanderwielen

Senior Punter

Vanderwielen was voted preseason All-Big Sky Conference and even received some preseason All-American accolades. He averaged 45.2 yards in last week's game at Arizona State and 42.4 last season.
