Saturday night against Idaho State, DeMarco Murray eclipsed 100 yards rushing for the first time since Oklahoma's 65-21 win over Texas Tech last season. He ran 12 times for 101 yards, with a long of 38 yards that featured a lead block by freshman guard Tyler Evans and two sudden cuts.

The change-of-direction had to be encouraging to OU coaches, considering Murray was injured during OU's season-opening loss to BYU, when he carried 10 times for 58 yards.

"He was coming off a slight turf toe that they were monitoring a little bit," offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson said. "I think he kind of aggravated it early last week in the game, on the first carry to tell you the truth. We tried to monitor him in practice (last week) and not give him too much. It was good to see him come out and make those plays."

Murray helped first-time starting quarterback Landry Jones by making two catches for another 40 yards. He also picked up an Idaho State blitz to allow Jones to find Ryan Broyles for an 11-yard TD that made it 27-0 early in the second quarter. "I'm getting back in the groove of things," Murray said.

Nowhere men: The tight end position all but disappeared from OU's passing game Saturday. Brody Eldridge returned to the position after opening the season at center, but was there to block.

Trent Ratterree and James Hanna, who ran routes in place of the injured Jermaine Gresham against BYU, didn't play nearly as much and never had the ball thrown their way.

Wilson did note that Eldridge was open for a touchdown on first-and-goal from the Idaho State 2-yard line in the second quarter. Jones elected to throw to fullback Matt Clapp in the flat instead, an ill-advised pass that Bengals linebacker J.T. Albers should have intercepted.
