Sooner, Cowgirl get early honors
OSU's Riley, OU's Robinson named to preseason squad.

Oklahoma State senior Andrea Riley and Oklahoma junior Danielle Robinson were named to the Big 12 Conference women's basketball preseason team.

Riley was named first-team All-Big 12 in both her junior and sophomore seasons.

The 5-foot-5 guard has led the league in scoring the last two years.

As a junior, she averaged 23.0 points and 6.0 assists per game, earning All-America honorable mention honors.

Riley is listed on both the Wade Trophy and Wooden Award preseason All-America lists and has been named a preseason first-team All-America pick by Athlon Sports.

Robinson earned first-team All-Big 12 honors as a sophomore in helping OU reach the Final Four last season.

She led the Sooners in free throw percentage (.902) on 119-of-132 free throws and averaged 12.9 points and 5.9 assists per game.

OU sophomore Whitney Hand received honorable mention honors.

Hand averaged 9.2 points and 2.9 rebounds in 33 games last season.

Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players.

Big 12 Women’s Preseason awards

Preseason Player of the year: Danielle McCray, F, Kansas.

Preseason Newcomer of the year: Danielle Adams, F/C, Texas A&M

Preseason Freshman of the year: Brittney Griner, C, Baylor

Preseason All-Big 12 Team: Danielle McCray, F, Kansas; Kelsey Griffin, F, Nebraska; Danielle Robinson, G, Oklahoma, Andrea Riley, G, Oklahoma State, Brittainey Raven, G, Texas.

Honorable Mention: Brittney Griner (Baylor), Alison Lacey (Iowa State), Ashley Sweat (Kansas State), Whitney Hand (Oklahoma), Tanisha Smith (Texas A&M).
