Get your shoulder fixed, wait till the combine(s) and take your chances in the draft; another injury and your draft status could drop like a rock. Best of luck to you Sam - you're a heck of Q.B.

His shoulder will take months to rehab. He won't be anywhere close to combine shape when they come around. If he enters the draft this year he'll be losing draft status and probably go late first round.

I think the best thing would be to have the surgery and come back next year to show the scouts that shoulder isn't affected. That's just me. I'm sure whatever he decides will work out just fine.

Sam's season is over. But the question now is if he will waive his last year with OU or jump to the NFL if anyone wants him?

This is a sad situation for a remarkable person and athlete. Who could blame Sam for wanting to win a National Championship in a Sooner uniform. He had all the tools in place last year, but a bum coaching staff blew it for him and the rest of the team. That was probably the best collection of talent to wear a Sooner uniform at once. It was probably a bit naive to think that he could deliver the same kind of numbers and remain uninjured with the current O-line, let alone get another chance at a National Championship. Stoops deserves some ire for this. Sam's stock was never higher than at the end of last year's season, but Stoops either selfishly and/or stubbornly convinced himself that he and Sam could return and win the big one under his profoundly flawed coaching regime.

All that said, Sam's gonna be just fine no matter his prognosis or the outcome of this season. It's my hope that he bows out this season to take care of himself and contemplate the next big step.

MTS: Although you have god points, I think it is plain wrong to assume Stoops selfishly convinced Sam to Return. It was Sam and his families decision. Bradford grew up in Oklahoma where there is no pro team and all he ever wanted to do was play for OU. he was having fun in college and wanted to come back for all the right reasons (which you said). I truly believe that the coaches have the best interests for Sam all along although it doesn't appear that way after saturdays injury. He went to the best shoulder doctor, Dr. James Andrews and was cleared to play. It wouldn't surprise me if he decided to stay for his senior year, add more muscle and work on his 1st round game. I do think however, he will go pro and play for the St. Loius Rams. Whatever he decides I wish him the best.

Choppa - I agree with what you said. Stops even brought in NFL people that he had connections with to talk to Bradford sohe can make an informed decision HIMSELF. Bradford loved the college life so he stayed. Some people just want to blame the coaches for EVERYTHING!

I know right. They will be looking at getting a QB since Bulger is getting up there in age and has been inconsistant. I very well could be wrong but that would make sense. But, the Rams are a pretty borong team. Side note: I think the NFL is boring anyways compared to College. I hate that we get either the Cowboys or the Cheifs. NAP TIME ON SUNDAY!

I'd like to see him go to the rams. I'm already a cardinals fan, so a good reason to like a st louis team is fine by me. (Honestly though, I'd like whatever team Bradford went to, even the cowgirls. call it a man-crush if you must.)

Anybody who thinks Stoops lured Sam back are idiots. Plain and simple. As the above poster noted in response- Sam always wanted to play for the Sooners. He really did need to mature physically another year before going into the NFL. Stoops and our coaches are class acts completely and want the best for each of our players.

I am curious what is the difference in surgery to repair and resting it for a few months? Is the surgery really the best option here in this type injury?

Hey it wasn't that long ago when the Rams were the toast of ALL the major sports. Sam could be the next one to turn them around. I was going through the NFL trying to find what teams would take a QB early: Rams, Panthers, Redskins, maybe Seahawks, Titans (confused on them), Bills..... Can't see the Bucs doing it since they drafted Freeman and have been playing Johnson! anyway this is way off topic, sad to see Sam Bradford struggling like this, good luck to him

I believe what ever is going to happen to Sam is going to happen and I wish him the best of luck. However, I also believe the coaches are so involved with all the hooplah about to have surgery or not to have surgery it is distracting to the team. Coaches let the doctors worry about what to do about Sam and you do your job of getting the "Sooner Team" ready for Kansas.
