OU: Report Card

Offense: F

Landry Jones set a school record with five interceptions, and each one was a bad throw. He was frequently pressured, which reflects poorly on an offensive line faced perhaps the game's best front four. Still, the Sooner offense — linemen and a few others — continued its season-long comedy of errors, particularly by committing pre-snap penalties and dropping important passes. The ground game netted just 80 yards, so Jones was forced to throw a school-record 58 times. Receivers Ryan Broyles and Dejuan Miller played above average.

Defense: A

Except for one long run by tailback Roy Helu — who gained 138 yards and averaged 6.9 per carry — Nebraska's only chance at scoring was if the Sooner offense turned the ball over (both NU scores came off Landry Jones picks). Helu finished with 153 of his team's 180 total yards. The Huskers converted just 1-of-14 third-down tries and managed seven first downs. Their only TD was on a one-play, one-yard drive.

Special teams: C

Tress Way was moved ahead of Jimmy Stevens, Bob Stoops said, because the Sooners couldn't afford another miss here or there. Then Way missed three kicks of 45, 46 and 42 yards. His only successful kick was from 28 yards. He did help the Sooners several times with booming punts, averaging 49 yards per kick. And Ryan Broyles gave his team a chance (and nearly almost tied it) with a last-minute punt return (he had 102 yards on punt returns to go with his 74 receiving).

Cool Tool, roswell (11/8/2009 7:35:37 AM)
If "sucktastic" was in the dictionary, Tress Way's picture would surely appear next to it.

Tress is just a kid. He was put into those long situations kicking the long ball with the wind hitting him in the face. Undoubtedly the poor kid will have the stigma of remembering this game in his sleep or in the back of his head for the rest of his entire life. Lay off. Hopefully both he and Landry will use it as a learning game of what really not to do. Remember, these are just kids out there so be cool and not a tool about it.

Give the kid a break! There's little worse than fairweather fans bashing some 19 year old kid.

Should be a category for concentration and discipline. How many times have plays and good effort been revoked due to O-Line personnel getting stupid penalties? Snap count jumps, late hits, playing beyond the whistle when the play is 25 yards away. My gosh it's sickening to watch this, NO Discipline. It should pi!* a lineman off to turn around and see his team mate getting pummeled, did me when I played. I bet the film rooms are lovely places on Sunday afternoons, lineman get the chance to watch their inability to perform, now in HD color...

The defense should kick the offense in the shins...........

Don't blame the wind, jash. The first one would have been good from 70. It looked like an extra point hitting the net. And the wind didn't affect the 28 yarder he nearly missed. He was just off. Kicking's like golf. It happens. The kid's a stud and will be fine.

The Nebraska offense would make any defense look good...i.e. 7 points on ISU.
