Think about it: have you ever seen a worse 1st quarter of football at any level? It set the tone for the entire game. Nebraska's rookie quarterback gave everybody the jitters and it went downhill from there. What was it? 13 total yards for the Huskers in the first quarter.

The rhythm of that game is that there was no rhythm, it was herky-jerky from the get go. And how many times do you run into a monster like Suh? That game was a car wreck ready to happen from the git-go.

And my last rant: have you ever seen as many flags in any football game? At some point the refs have got to let the players play ball. If you are self-conscious because you are unsure if you are going to be whistled, you become tentative and defensive.

I'm not making excuses about how terrible Coach Wilson is (he is) or that the O-line totally sucks. Stoops is a good head coach and I can think of 5 assistants off the top who are or have been head coaches of a major college program after coming out of the Stoops system. So I am not going to lay it at Stoops' door completely.

I agree that this is Stoops' worst team. A stinker season or two happened to Barry Switzer and Tom Osborne. Let's not beat down these young guys too much, because like it or not, they form the nucleus of this team for the next couple of years regardless of who the coaches are.

Can it improve? Of course. Will it get worse before then? Maybe, but Sooner fans have been through so much before that we can weather this if everyone will get their frustration out and then get behind these guys. Either that, or take the label "fair weathered" and quit your gritching.

I tell you what you call your self sooner fans and then turn around and blame stoops and say that he needs to go. Give me a break do you want to go back to the 90s and watch realy realy bad football. Dang just deal with it its a bad season Stoops doesnt need to go he is one of the best. Wilson is the problem something needs to change and change soon. Stoops beeing fired is stupid and the ones that are calling for his head need to switch sides and root for the other team in the state we dont need bandwagon fans. So freakin stupid. BOOMER SOONER

I really don't believe what I am reading. I am a Nebraska fan who loves you Sooners. I called this game a month ago as a game where the first team to 10 would win. Why? You have one of the best defenses ever but your O line is hurt and young. That got Sam B. hurt. We have four front linemen who will all play on Sunday. With them against your broken front line, your offense will look like it is truly broken. It is not, but without blocking, no offense works. Give yourself another year of seasoning and maybe some new folks (and please get a kicker). Then you will be just fine. I love your team and your fans. While I do yell Go Big Red, I also hope that the Sooners rol overy everyone but us. :-)

it is painfully obvious that mr. wilson is sadly lacking as a coach. he should be gone, but the rest of the staff should be retained. coach stoops can't help the injuries, the sooners may have been winners in they lost, but maybe not all of them. ease up, injuries are going to happen and it's too bad it happened to our front line players, but here we are and with a season that will be best forgotten. any sooner fan from the 70's can well remember when the first two units could have finished one and two in the nation. the ncaa fixed that up by cutting the scholarships down and parity began and here we are, i always called that the ou rule. . .but, i've never been a fan of the ncaa czars who act like a deity and think they don't make mistakes and hand decisions down that are laughable.

Anyone who wants Stoops to be fired is seriously on something. You should never fire a coach because he may not be as good as 3 or 4 other coaches. I dunno, but maybe Stoops isn't as good as Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Pete Caroll. But he is def as good as or better than Mack Brown, Les Miles, Jim Tressel and others. Look at Stoops resume, he did great as a player at Iowa, coordinator at K-state and Florida, and has done awesome at OU. Stoops will need to be fired if our recruiting does not improve a bit (or gets worse) and if we have 2 more disappointing seasons and he does not get new assistant coaches and coordinators. Great coaches have plenty of great coaches around them, he had great coaches all around him in 2000, not really a complete unit of excellent coaches around him with losses of Mike, Sumlin, and even Long. I know we all said Chuck third and long quite a few times, but I still think he could have done just as good or better with the 2008 talent than wilson.

I just really do think that Wilson, Venables, Shipp etc are not Dan Mullen, Ken Norton, Nick Holt, Sarkisian, Gus Malzahn, Norm Chow, Monte Kiffin etc. I could be wrong, but I think Stoops has failed to surround him with Great assistants and I think he is too comfortable to see what a change would bring.

And for those who bring up John Blake, completely agree. But then again, Blake is a recruiter (extraordinaire) and good coordinator, you can read articles about how they contribute a lot of NC's rise in football to his help. Stoops probably should have kept Blake around. Blake had given a scholarship to Jeremy Shockey, but Stoops didn't and he went to NEo and then Miami. Get some better recruiters and assistant coaches is what darn well better happen if we lose two more games.

Any body who says, "Fire Bob Stoops!" is an absolute idiot. Bad seasons happen. You spoiled morons need to reconsider your thoughts (phdwarrior) about this. There are problems, yes, but Bob did not throw those picks, miss those field goals, hold, or jump the line. Wake up and remember the 90's!

Anyone who calls for Bob Stoops or any of his coaches to be fired are not true fans. I don't need to list all of Mr. Stoops accomplishments, but how many coaches could do what he has done at OU? His integrity is beyond reproach.

I agree....anybody who really believes that they need to "fire Bob Stoops" is a @$%#@& IDIOT and knows nothing about football, or life for that matter. OU has a national championship-caliber defense this year, and national-championship caliber program, and coaches. Its easy to second-guess after plays don't work....I doubt if any of you in the past year, when Bradford was setting records, would say after a touchdown pass by Bradford to Gresham that "he made a bad decision" or "the coaches should've called ths other play" You just cheered. On-field live-ball decision-making is probably the key....as well as maturity and discipine, which has not been consistent with all the penanties that have been committed.
But if you really want to post "Fire Bob" or some other staff, why not just fly a banner behind a plane staing that you are an IDIOT!

We were in the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP game LAST YEAR people! Do you remember LAST YEAR? Do you know what Bob's winning % is during his time at OU? Look it up. Those calling for Stoops to be fired are either complete morons or are really fans of another school posing as Sooner fans trying to rile up Sooner Nation.

Maybe this is a sign of a cleansing or re-birth if we end up in the Ind. Bowl. Does everyone remember what happened after the last time we were there?

You called for his removal LAST year, revjosie? We had one of the most prolific offenses in CFB history last year. I don't think you can find fault with 60 points a game, which we put up for what, 5 weeks in a row? We played in the title game, remember? His play calling THIS year has been questionable at times, but the bottom line is good players make coaches look good and bad players make coaches look bad and we have bad players on offense this year at most positions due to many reasons. That's like trying to blame New England's coaching staff for not winning as many games if they were to lose Brady, his 3 best receivers and 2 or 3 of their linemen. It's just not gonna happen.

I am curious if any of you idiots that are calling for Coach Stoops' firing actually graduated from OU? I bet many who are the bandwagon fans have never spent more time in Norman than required to attend a game, if they were lucky enough to stumble onto some tickets. Crawl back under your rocks and either wait for the basketball bandwagon or for next year when the football team rights the ship, then you can jump back on the Sooner Schooner with those of us who won't leave, are more rational in our expectations, and realize that some years are up and some are down. Get lives, losers.

Fire Stoops!!!! you have to be an idiot to think that. I normally believe a loss is a team loss but the Nebraska game is solely put on the QB and kicker. Highly rated kicker misses 3 and I don't agree that Jones was pressured into the interceptions. His accuracy was off all evening. His throws seem to sail on his receivers. Tennell needs to step up as senior. mostly though, Jones' throwss were way off. 10 trips into Cornhusker territory (fg, 3 missed fgs, 3 ints, and 3 failed 4th downs) is pathetic. The line to me has to run block alot better.

Poor O-line play, young inexperienced QB exposed in road games, penalties, poor special teams play and poor job of the coach getting his kids ready to play resulted in this years poor showing. These problems are all correctible over the next two years. In the meantime Bob Stoops needs to take a page out of mack Brown's book from when his teams were underachieving and make key coordinator adjustments.

Thanks for the words. I love a good rivalry, so OU-Nebraska has been special for me as an OU fan for close to 40 years. At the movies, we don't want to see James Bond breaking up a liquor store robbery, we want to see him going up against the top Bad Guy in the world. I'm glad to see Nebraska getting back on track and it starts with always being in the game when you have a defense like that. I hope that by the next time we play against you again that your offense will have caught up and we'll have two Top 5 teams battling it out again.

I think your logic is right. I like to give our coaches the benefit of the doubt as circumstances in changing personnel is somewhat fluid, but there are patterns I have observed. Remember after the loss to Texas and the comments by Coach Wilson about how our running game was ineffective and that it needed to improve? He said the same thing when we lost to Texas in 2008 and couldn't run for a first down, and after that game last year they buckled down on the running attack. We have a different line this year, but the same coach, and I think it's questionable when a statement used one year after a loss regarding the preparedness of a team is repeated the next year against the exact same team.
