Oklahoma native Bill Hancock has been selected to become the first executive director of the postseason system.

Hancock, who is from Hobart, will replace the BCS coordinator. The position has rotated on a two-year basis between conference commissioners since the Bowl Championship Series was implemented in 1998.

Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner John Swofford's two-year term as coordinator will end Jan. 7. At that point Hancock, who has been working as an administrator and spokesman for the BCS since 2005, will assume most of the coordinator's duties.

Hancock graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1972. His son, Will, was an assistant sports information director at Oklahoma State and one of 10 men associated with the school's basketball program who died in a Colorado plane crash in January 2001.

Hancock wrote a book, "Riding with the Blue Moth," about the cross-country biking journey he made to cope with his son's death.

Excellent choice, well deserved. Watch the BCS cluster start to become clearer under his watch.
Good day,
