Texas Tech gets to 'Jump Around'

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Sooners had this one coming.

Maybe not the score. Maybe not the loss. But definitely the party.

With almost 14 minutes left to play and Texas Tech lining up for a kickoff after taking a 34-6 lead, Jones Stadium became a mosh pit, with House of Pain's "Jump Around" the only mix available for the Red Raiders' 41-13 beatdown.

"They were waiting for us," said Oklahoma receiver Ryan Broyles. "You could tell."

For Tech, it was sweet revenge for last year's 65-21 embarrassment in Norman. The Red Raiders were ranked No. 1 and undefeated at the time, and Bob Stoops had called out Sooner fans a few days before for not being loud enough. When "Jump Around" went out at Owen Field, the place went nuts.

"We did them like that down at our place," Broyles said, "so it was no other way to get us back but to do it at their place."

Tech players this week said they remembered last year's scene. One even said he hated that song now. But he probably doesn't any more.

"It felt good to be on the other side," said Red Raiders defensive end Brandon Sharpe.

When Saturday's outcome was safely tucked away and the song began, the 50,479 fans got going a bit, but not as much as the Tech kickoff team in the center of the field, and nowhere close to the hip-hop celebration on the Red Raiders' sideline.

I was at the OSU/TTech game a couple of weeks ago, when this song was played there the Tech team went nuts on the sidelines. I had a feeling it had some other meaning for them. Sweet revenge.

i think the reason ttu felt so embarrassed last year was because they were 11-0 or something right? and they got whooped and lost a chance to go to the big xii title game...

but hey, if getting revenge against a bad team that you are one loss away from having the same record as makes you feel better about your season than hey....

we jumped around last year because we felt we had put the game away, and it was going to give us a chance to win another title, not to make ttu feel bad...of course this year ttu jumping around doesn't really mean anything because nothing hurts us more than having a dissappointing year where we can't compete for a championship.
