NORMAN — Oklahoma senior tackle Trent Williams said Tuesday he wanted to "go out with some type of legacy."

Unfortunately for him, that legacy could be missing his final home game.

Oklahoma City television station KFOR reported Friday night that Williams sustained a concussion in practice and would miss Saturday's season finale against Oklahoma State.

Team sources did not return text messages seeking confirmation, but multiple Web sites, citing team sources, reported that Williams' absence from the 11:30 a.m. game was only a possibility and that Williams would be examined further before the game.

If Williams is out, the Sooners (6-5) will be without their most experienced offensive lineman, and the only returning starter from last year's line. It's likely that junior right tackle Cory Brandon would move to left tackle, and either junior Tavaris Jeffries or sophomore Stephen Good would play right tackle, with converted tight end Eric Mensik the backup at both spots.

If Williams sits, the Sooners will be missing two offensive line starters just from last week's game at Texas Tech. Center Ben Habern went down in that game with a broken leg and will be replaced by Claremore walk-on Brian Lepak. Senior Brian Simmons, the starter at left guard, returned last week from five weeks out with a knee injury.

Williams, first-team All-Big 12 last season and a preseason All-America this season, leads the senior class with 37 career starts, including 26 in a row. He's the third of four Sooners who chose to return to school last January instead of pursuing an opportunity become a high pick in the NFL draft — only to suffer an injury. Tight end Jermaine Gresham went down in the preseason and quarterback Sam Bradford was hurt in the opener and later against Texas.

Williams said earlier in the week he was eager to finish the season on a high note and try to get his team to a good bowl game.

"We're gonna go out there with all that we have," he said. "This is our season. Last game for our seniors. We want to go out with some type of legacy. That's what I want to do. I want to defend our home turf."
