OU: 3 storylines
A look at three key things for OU in today's Tulsa-OU contest.

D up

This isn't Idaho State, and as good as BYU was, Tulsa's offense is better. Sooner defenders get their biggest test to date. They blew their first chance by letting BYU drive for a game-winning TD. Last week was just a tune-up. All-America DT Gerald McCoy spent the week nursing flu-like symptoms. Now, can McCoy and those nine returning starters make a play against a seriously good TU offense?

Landry's salt

Yes, a visit to Miami in two weeks looks much more daunting. But it's possible Sam Bradford might be back by then. So this, then, could be the week when Sooner fans truly find out what backup QB Landry Jones is made of. Hard to gauge from last week's playground romp, so how will he — and his offensive line and his receivers — play against a wound-up, athletic, blitz-heavy TU defense?

Deep cover

The Sooners last year gave up an NCAA-worst four touchdowns on kickoff returns. The kickoff coverage looked improved against BYU and Idaho State (16.1-yard average), but TU's Damaris Johnson (280 yards and a touchdown on punts and kickoffs in two games so far) is the first legitimate return threat Oklahoma has faced. If OU's coverage isn't markedly better, TU will have scoring opportunities.
