TU takes strides but must get 2 more wins
TU's George Clinkscale tries to sack Houston quarterback Case Keenum, at H.A. Chapman Stadium, on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009. CORY YOUNG / Tulsa World

Tulsa's hope for a Conference USA championship evaporated with Saturday night's last-second 46-45 loss to No. 13 Houston.
TU has lost two of three games in agonizing factor. Against UTEP, it lost 28-24 by giving up two touchdowns in the final seven minutes. The Cougars scored nine points in the final 21 seconds to shock the Hurricane.
Quarterback G.J. Kinne was outstanding against Houston. After handling a week of criticism, he became the first TU quarterback to pass for 300 yards and run for 100 yards in the same game.
Todd Graham complimented offensive coordinator Herb Hand for play-calling, said the offensive line played better and pointed out that true freshmen wide receivers Justin Skillens and Ricky Johnson had great games.
But the result was a loss and now it's time to go back to work. Tulsa needs to win two of its final three games to reach bowl eligibility, and they won't come easy.

Oklahoma football as a whole is very disappointing this season. From college to high school it's all been bad.

I think they can get the 2 wins pretty easily if they ditch the awful red uniforms.

Next year's Tulsa football time is going to be a force to be reckoned with. They have some incredible youth and talent on offense as was proved against Houston on Saturday. G.J. Kinne opened up as a dual threat QB, continuously shredding houston for 10 and 15 yard runs. With all his recievers minus Slick Shelley returning next year, the Hurricane offense should return to national prominence. Their O-line has been a target this year due to poor protection but with injured players returning to the line-up, protection was much improved against Houston and here's the kicker, all but one return next year. The running game has not been very effective this year, mainly due to the o-line. But next year Charlie-O, Charles Clay, A.J. Whitmore, Jamad Williams, and co. shall return with a vengeance, ready to burn the opposition. Not to mention Damaris Johnson.

We will be better next year, but Houston is returning their entire team minus the center and two on defense. Houston also was minus both their starting left tackle and left guard against us. (I read it on their blog) I noticed they played three true freshmen at d-line as well. That team will still be the team to beat next year for us and we will be playing them at their place next year. I look forward to that game.
I agree ditch those awful uni's.

But What Do I Know?

As far as I'm concerned they can wear Nolan's polka dots if it gets them a W.

A one point win may be a win in the book, but TU still has it's problems.

pcdokken...100% correct. Defense should be pretty good as well next year. Don't forget 2 big FR who will be a bigger part of the attack next year...Willie Carter and Alex Singleton. This team should be a lot better in all phases for the next 2 years truthfully.
