TU: Three Storylines

Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kinne runs for a big gain against Houston, at H.A. Chapman Stadium, on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009. CORY YOUNG / Tulsa World

Big help: Tyler Holmes proved his importance on the offensive line against Houston. The offensive tackle — a preseason All-Conference USA pick — helped provide time for G.J. Kinne in the pocket and in the run game. "The difference in our football team, hands-down, tonight was Tyler Holmes," TU coach Todd Graham said. "It was unbelievable, the difference he made."

Quarterback watch: "I don't think we have a quarterback controversy," Graham said after the game. You could tell the coach was upset — with the way he said those words — about the distraction of public opinion for the quarterbacks. Kinne passed for 334 yards and ran for 100 Saturday.

Postseason hopes: If TU plays with the same passion against East Carolina on Sunday, it may win and take a huge step toward bowl eligibility.

Soooo funny the dumba's who criticized kinne with an o-line as weak and inexperienced as tulsa has had this year. holmes' return and strength as an all-american lineman provides but a glimmer of what kinne can do with protection...especially on the blind side. those who couldn't see that - and jumped on board the naysayer bandwagon after a game where he suffered a concussion - clearly have no idea about kinne's records in texas or what an o-line means to a football team. now we have to fix the rest of the o-line and get a new special teams coach. there is no qb controversy...in the locker room, on the field, or in the minds of any tulsa fan who understands football. Go TU!

Kinne had a great game against Houston & I'm sure some would like to say "I told you so" but we've all seen Bowers touch on the ball and his ability to av0id sacks,.... Kinne is a good kid, but Skip Holtz has seen that film and is there anybody out there that believes Kinne will run 100yrds Sunday???
