A closer look at three players for the Pirates

Van Eskridge

Senior defensive back

Received first-team all-conference honors as a junior. Rated C-USA's "hardest hitter" by The Sporting News. Has eight career interceptions, including two in 27-24 win over Tulsa in last year's C-USA title game. Has team-leading 68 tackles in 2009 and is ninth on school's career list with 329.

C.J. Wilson

Senior defensive end

Veteran pass rusher has 6.5 tackles for loss and eight quarterback hurries in 2008. Preseason C-USA defensive player of the year, as chosen by league coaches. First-team all-league honors last year. Ranks eighth among active NCAA players in career sacks (24.0) and tackles for loss (41.5).

Ben Hartman

Senior placekicker

Has connected on six game-deciding field goals over three seasons, including 36-yarder with 1:43 left in last year's C-USA title game. Ranks third in ECU career field goals with 46. Also has connected on 99-of-101 extra points and is fourth in school career scoring with 237 points. By MIKE BROWN World Sports Writer
