Mike Bryan was favoring his left elbow in the interview room late Sunday night.

The physical pain was minor to what the University of Tulsa senior linebacker was feeling after the Golden Hurricane's bowl hopes crumbled in a 44-17 loss to East Carolina.

"I just got a little stinger and had to come off the field," Bryan said.

In the postgame interview room, a reporter asked Bryan how does the Hurricane's current five-game losing streak felt.

"It's a little bit hard to comprehend right now and I've never felt this before. It's just a weird feeling," he said. "We're taking it the best way we can. There's not much we can do about it. We came out tonight and weren't ready to play and East Carolina took it to us and beat us."

In a replay of East Carolina's Conference USA title win last year over TU in Chapman Stadium, the Pirates' defense controlled and finally took over the game, returning two interceptions and a fumble for touchdowns over the final 12:05.

Even more disappointing to Bryan was the way the Pirates drove the ball in the first half, rolling up 401 yards of total offense and a 20-0 lead before the Hurricane offense got on track.

"The first half was embarrassing. I think they had 400 yards (total offense) in the first half.," he said.

The Pirates totaled 182 first-half rushing yards, averaging more than 6 yards per snap.

Senior running back Dominique Lindsay had 150 first-half rushing yards, beating his previous career high, and finished with 172 yards on 31 attempts.

Tulsa fell to 4-6 overall (2-4 in Conference USA), meaning it must win its final two games to avoid a losing season in Bryan's senior year. TU visits Southern Miss on Saturday and closes at home against Memphis on Nov. 27.

"Probably if we win the next games, we're probably not going to a bowl game even though we'd be bowl eligible," Bryan said.

"I never thought that would be the goal come Week 11, but it's very important to me Week 11, but it is very important to me not to have a losing season my senior year."

I am sorry Mike that the city of Tulsa did not show up to support you last night. You played your heart out, as you do every time you step on the field. I hope that the City of Tulsa finds time in their busy lives to show up for senior day. It sure would be a shame if you only have 6,000 people in the stands to see your last game. You and the rest of the seniors deserve better, as you have played some pretty darn good football over the last four and five years.

Tulsa fans are a disapointment to their team. These kids fight hard and sometimes don't come out on top. But they do not deserve the lack of respect the city shows them. A true fan could care less about the weather or what night it is. I can guarantee you if OU were playing at Chapman Stadium it would have been full.

Kudos to those fans who showed but more importantly who stayed!
