Sooner signee arrested
TROUBLE
Josh Jarboe:
OU recruit faces two felony complaints.
By JOHN E. HOOVER World Sports Writer

Jarboe is arrested in Georgia on two felony complaints.
NORMAN -- Oklahoma football signee Josh Jarboe was arrested Thursday night on two felony complaints, and on Friday, OU coach Bob Stoops declined to discuss his and Jarboe's options because he didn't yet have enough information.
"I obviously just became aware of it yesterday evening," Stoops said following Friday's spring practice, "and we haven't had time to find out all the details, so until -- it wouldn't be appropriate until I knew exactly all the details and talked to the people involved over in that area. So it's premature for me to have anything to say."
According to DeKalb County (Ga.) online records, Jarboe, 18, and James Davis, 17, were arrested by DeKalb Public Schools police officers and booked into DeKalb County Jail at 6:13 p.m. Thursday for theft by receiving stolen property and for having a weapon on school grounds. Jarboe remained in the county jail on Friday. Formal charges had not been filed because arrest reports had not been completed, according a report on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Web site.
Jarboe, a senior at Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Ga., chose OU over LSU, Florida and Georgia. He was ranked by Rivals.com as the 10th-best wide receiver prospect in the nation, and was the No. 13 overall player nationally as ranked by ESPN.
With the early departure of Malcolm Kelly to the NFL, OU is searching
for a deep-ball specialist. It's not clear if Jarboe will be allowed to play at OU next fall.
It's the third time in seven months a Sooner or future player has been arrested. In August, first-year freshman wide receiver Ryan Broyles was arrested for stealing gasoline by unauthorized use of a pump key and codes from a Norman convenience store. In December, junior defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger was arrested in Tempe, Ariz., for shoplifting a coat during the Sooners' Fiesta Bowl trip.

This dude has ALL the markings of a thug. Simple solution: yank his scholarship, if the facts bear out. Bob, you don't need the headaches this guy is going to bring, and he hasn't even set foot on campus. At least Ryan Broyles was enrolled when he pulled his stupid stunt.

Stoops won't do a thing.
He's hoping this will all blow over ("I don't have enough information" means "I need to see how good he's going to be before I decide what to do.").
This is a typical OU signee. It doesn't matter what kind of criminal background or moral character the guy has as long as he can play football.
I guarantee you that once this guy sets foot on campus, there'll be at least one more criminal charge coming OU's way. This guy has no thought about his future, it's plain to see by his actions.
And being on the OU campus, where he'll be treated like a God, is supposed to humble this guy's ego and instant gratification?!
I don't think so.
Here's another talented idiot for OU to deal with. Wonder if he'll steal a coac next right before a big game?!
$5 says Stoops still brings him on campus. WHY!?! Because he, like the demands of OU fans, is dead set on winning at any cost.
Nothings changed since Switzer.

Danny from Vail: a lot has changed since Switzer. Nice job attacking Stoops' character - I bet you'll have a lot of followers on that one! You're bitter at something, of which I'm not sure...maybe you're an OSU fan, or maybe you don't like that Bob Stoops is a millionaire, or maybe you just had a bad day & want to take it out on one of the most talented and respected coaches at any level in the country? Whatever it is, I'm not buying that Stoops has shotty character.

How can anyone assume this kid is a thug? Yes, kid! He's 18, and the article says receiving stolen property, and having a weapon. Doesn't say he had the weapon. I agree with Coach Stoops, u don't take a kids dreams, or crush his chances for success, because of one screw up. Watch him close, see what happens, then make your decision. For the record, I am not a BIG OU fan....but, I am a fan of Coach Stoops. By the way, if those of you criticizing, never made mistakes as a youngster, I congratulate you!!

for you people that don't think Stoops will do anything....did we forget two years ago he booted Bomar the starting QB and Quinn starting lineman off the team, not many Coaches do that...Stoops will make the right decision....Stoops #1...Go Sooners

I have no doubt that Coach Stoops will give this misunderstood young man one more (maybe two or three) chance. OK, so he's going to have to gamble on this young man living up to OU's high moral codes. But look at it this way, they've already got a picture they can use for next year's media guide, courtesty of DeKalb County Jail.

This is more of the same that started with Switzer, Win at any cost. What would Bud Wilkerson have done? Yanked the scholarship and not let him on campus. Thats when OU had a class program without the need for thugs.

Why should anyone be surprised? Afterall, it is Outlaw U, where the lawbreaker recruits and players are the norm!! Shop lift, steal gasoline, get paid for work not done!!! OU is a renegade school and is an embaassment to the state. Want to bet this thug doesn't still get a scholarship? Any parent with any care for their child, wouldn't let them play for such a place populated by law breakers!!!!OU sucks sewer water!!!Sooners still exemplify the law breaking of the Sooners who jumped the gun during the Oklahoma land rush

Give a kid a chance. This kid is going to get out of Georgia come to OU and become a man. College changes kids for the better. And Stoops knows what he is doing. Last year UT had eight players get in trouble with the law and the over-rated Mack Brown did nothing and actually took offense to being asked about it. Stoops has class and changes boys to men, so all you critics can get your facts right.

give the "KID" a chance? that's not a kid! he's an ADULT! he looks like he's 30. if he is convicted, they need to throw the book at him. athletes who get away with criminal behavior disgust me! they are a sorry excuse for role models!

Wow, osu fans condemning stoops' character and calling OU a bunch of "cons"....that's rich. I'm sorry, but didn't you have a LB start this year when your coach knew he raped a minor? Also, didn't you guys take prentice elliot when everyone from OU to LSu pulled his scholly when his record was revealed? How did he pan out? Oh yea, Jameon curry didn't deal drugs in high school before going to osu either.
Osu fans are so freakin' obsessed with OU and jump at any news that is remotely negative without using their worthless degrees to think about how stupid they look...dumb pokes. Take your Football, basketball, and wrestling losses like a man. Oh but wait, I forgot, we can only beat osu in women's sports as they like to stupidly make excuses when our athletic teams beat them.

But wait, I forget that OU fans are uneducated because OU allows fans to be anyone, just not alumni......j
