BIG 12 FOOTBALL MEDIA DAYS: Ranking the teams 1-12

Tulsa World sports writer Bill Haisten rates the Big 12 football teams:

, Oklahoma: Sam Bradford, Auston English lead the Sooners’ drive toward a third consecutive Big 12 crown.

, Missouri: Chase Daniel quarterbacks an offense that last season averaged 40 points, 490 yards per game.

, Texas: Longhorns are loaded with talent, but won’t contend unless Colt McCoy cuts down on interceptions.

, Texas Tech: With Harrell throwing to Crabtree, the Red Raiders have the nation’s most dynamic passing duo.

, Kansas: In his first year as the starting quarterback, Todd Reesing led Jayhawks to a 12-win dream season.

, Colorado: Entering third season as coach, Dan Hawkins landed a big-time running back recruit (Darrell Scott).

, Oklahoma State: The offense again should be excellent, but O-State’s X-factor, as always, is its defense.

, Nebraska: First-year coach Bo Pelini inherits a team that last year was No. 112 nationally in total defense.

, Texas A&M: With Joe Kines coordinating, the Aggie defense may once again become a “Wrecking Crew.”

, Baylor: New coach Art Briles, after a successful run at Houston, attempts to change the culture in Waco.

, Kansas State: In what seems a desperate move, Kansas State brought in 19 junior-college transfers.

, Iowa State: Talent-thin Cyclones appear destined for third consecutive last-place finish in the North.
