Barry Switzer partnered with Heisman Trophy winners Steve Owens and Billy Sims while serving as an assistant coach and head coach at the University of Oklahoma. Now Switzer is teaming with an Oscar winner.

Switzer will guest star as himself in an Aug. 11 episode of the TNT television series "Saving Grace." The series stars Holly Hunter, who won the 1991 Academy Award for best actress for her performance in "The Piano."

The setting for "Saving Grace" is Oklahoma City and Hunter plays police detective Grace Hanadarko. In the episode guest-starring Switzer, a door to the detective's Porsche gets knocked off by a drunk driver and the impact jars loose thousands of dollars in cash that had been hidden by one of the car's previous owners.

Switzer is among the former owners questioned in the episode. According to a TNT publicist, Switzer is hailed as a hero by all but one policeman when he visits an Oklahoma City police station. The policeman who doesn't fawn over Switzer is "Butch," a former University of Texas football player.

According to episode information, Hunter allows Switzer to take a glory ride in the Porsche for old time's sake.

"Saving Grace" is not Switzer's first foray into acting. He appeared in the TV series "Arli$$" and "Coach" and had roles in movies, including "Varsity Blues," "Any Given Sunday" and "Possums."

I'd rather see my uncle, Steve Owens, be the guest star on that show. He would be great. The man is hilarious!
